Galway Bay fm newsroom - Not one single property across Galway City is affordable to those in receipt of rent supplement or housing assistance payments.
That's according to new figures compiled by the Simon Community from figures supplied by property website Daft.ie.
They show that the rental cost of a two bedroom property in the city is 73% higher than allowance limits for a family with two children.
Meanwhile, the average rent for a one bedroom property is 56% higher than the allowance limits for a single person.
The average rent for a one bedroom city property during the study period was almost €900 - while a two bedroom was over €1500.
The Simon Community is warning that nationally, just 7 percent of properties are within the limits of those on rent allowance.
Spokesperson Niamh Randall says the Government needs to intervene.
