The new University of Galway Institute for Health Discovery and Innovation will deliver healthcare solutions
The interim President of the University Peter McHugh says key areas of focus include cancer biology, cell and chromosome biology; biomedical engineering and medical technologies; regenerative medicine; neuroscience; diagnostics; and advanced therapeutics.
Mr McHugh says this Institute marks a new level of ambition in our strategic approach to research.
Minister for Higher Education Patrick O' Donovan, who cut the ribbon on the project this afternoon, said it brings together more than 200 researchers and academics to gain a better understanding of disease, and to deliver healthcare solutions.
