Galway Bay fm newsroom - The new owner of the Westwood Hotel has vowed to engage with residents on future plans for the site.
The Ziggurat student fund is now in the final stages of the acquisition process.
It plans to develop a high-end student accommodation block as part of a wider plan to provide 1,000 beds in Galway city.
The firm says the site will have a 24/7 on site presence and a zero tolerance approach will be applied to any disruptive tenant behaviour.
The assurance follows a public meeting regarding the plan which was attended by over 100 local residents earlier this week.
Management company Atelier says the next step will involve a meeting with local residents to discuss the proposal to transform the site.
The proposed work will involve the demolition of the existing hotel structure.
Enda Mac Gowan is Non-Executive Chairperson with management company Atelier - he says there will be full consultation with residents over any concerns.
