New figures show electric car registrations in Galway fall by 42% so far in 2024

New electric car registrations in Galway so far for 2024 have fallen by just over 42% compared to the same period last year.

That’s according to new vehicle registration figures published by SIMI for the month of July.

407 electric car units have been sold this year in comparison to 702 in 2023-a fall of 42.02%.

While new car registrations have a less dramatic decrease with 4,067 units being sold in comparison to 4,176 by this time last year-a fall of 2.61%.

Car registrations nationally have also dropped by 5.9%.
