Galway Bay fm newsroom - A new committee has been established in Loughrea in a bid to boost business and tourism in the town.
Loughrea Tourism is a sub-committee of the Loughrea Chamber of Commerce, and has been set up by councillors Michael Moegie Maher and Shane Donnellan.
The group aims to revitalise the town by highlighting the variety of attractions available to visitors - such as the lake, the town moat, hotel accommodation, eateries and shops.
Loughrea area councillor Michael Moegie Maher says one of the group's main aims is to fight for the new loop off the Wild Atlantic Way to be extended into Loughrea and Craughwell.
He says in a bid to move on this suggestion, Fáilte Ireland will be invited to speak directly to local councillors at an upcoming meeting in Loughrea.
