New bridge at Salmon Weir to be named in coming months

Galway Bay fm newsroom – The new cycle and pedestrian bridge at Salmon Weir will be named over the coming months.

The first step will be the adoption of a new naming policy at the June meeting of Galway City Council.

Several names for the bridge have been put forward by community groups, but the local authority has remained tight-lipped on any emerging favourites.

The public will also be able to make suggestions before any final decision is taken.

Speaking to Galway Talks, Mayor of Galway Clodagh Higgins says a lot of work will go into ensuring the right name is chosen.
