New Bishop of Clonfert to be announced in the next hour as Bishop Kirby retires

Galway Bay fm newsroom - The new Bishop of Clonfert is to be announced in the next hour with Bishop John Kirby having just announced his retirement.

The new Bishop will be introduced to the congregation at 11 o'clock mass this morning by the Apostolic Nuncio to Ireland Archbishop Okolo, at Saint Brendan's Cathedral in Loughrea.

He will replace Bishop John Kirby who is retiring at the age of 80 years, having tendered his resignation to the Pope five years ago
