N17 near Milltown remains closed as Gardai continue collision examination

Galway Bay fm newsroom - The N17 road between Milltown and Ballindine remains closed this afternoon as gardai carry out an examination of the scene of a fatal crash.

A man in his 30s was killed and another man injured in the crash involving a car and a truck at Carrownurlaur around 1.15 this morning.

A man in his 30s was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the truck who is in his 50s, was taken to Mayo General Hospital in Castlebar as a precaution.

A garda forensic collision examination of the scene is underway and the N17 between Milltown and Ballindine remains closed and diversions are in place.

It's expected that gardaí will re-open the road around 3 this afternoon.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have been travelling on the N17 in the Milltown area around 1 this morning to contact them, particularly if they have dashcam footage.
