Galway Bay fm newsroom - The Monivea Road has been closed as emergency services attend a serious road collision.
The incident involving a bin lorry and a car took place between Carnmore Cross and Briarhill Junction shortly after 1pm.
Diversions are in place.
Motorists travelling to and from the racecourse are urged to use the motorway.
