Galway Bay fm newsroom - The Minister Housing, Community and Local Government says the responsibility for resolving the traffic congestion in Parkmore lies with the city council.
Simon Coveney, who is a contender for the Fine Gael leadership, was speaking during a visit to Galway today.
He is meeting Parkmore business leaders and Galway Chamber representatives this afternoon in a meeting organised by Galway West / South Mayo T.D, Hildegarde Naughton.
Speaking to NewsBreak, Minister Coveney says the government will provide whatever funding is necessary but the issue has to be managed by the local authority.
Earlier, Minister Coveney addressed students at NUI Galway as part of a nationwide engagement on the National Planning Framework 2040.
The NPF sets out to map out the State’s population growth over the next 25 years.
Minister Coveney said the framework will support expansion of the city and Galway's rural communities.
