Galway Bay fm newsroom - A lawsuit against Galway businessman Declan Ganley and his company Rivada Networks have been dismissed by a federal court in Mexico.
The case taken by Mexico's communications regulator emerged after Rivada lost out on a 7 billion dollar public tender to build a mobile network for the country.
Declan Ganley's Rivada Networks alleged late last year it was wrongly excluded from bidding for a contract to build a $7 billion wholesale mobile phone network.
The contract has been awarded to the only other bidder, a Mexican-US consortium known as Altan, which has denied any wrongdoing.
The allegations of corruption led to the commencement of an internal inquiry at the Mexican Government's Department of Communication.
The communications regulator subsequently took a case against Declan Ganley and Rivada for defamation in relation to it's claims around the tender process.
According to the Sunday Business Post, a Mexican federal court has now ruled that the regulator had no standing to sue Rivada or the Galway businessman.
Mr. Ganley believes he and his firm have an extremely strong case that they were illegally disqualified from the tender process.
He says the court has already ordered that Rivada's bid be held until the ongoing court case is resolved.
