Mayor of Galway says he's 'fed up' with lack of action on anti-social behavior

Galway Bay fm newsroom - Mayor of Galway, Councillor Mike Cubbard, says he's absolutely 'fed up' of the lack of action on anti-social behavior across the city.

He says at this point, he's sick of 'going around in circles' - with repeated conversations with relevant authorities failing to yield any meaningful results.

Mayor Councillor Cubbard claims far from getting better - the problem appears to be getting worse.

He's drawn attention to examples of ongoing problems - including public drinking and associated anti-social behavior, unruly tenants, littering of public spaces, damage to public facilities, horses on common green areas, and local burglary and intimidation.

Mayor Councillor Cubbard has also raised the lack of CCTV in place at problematic spots to deter anti-social behavior - and alleges Galway City Council has claimed it cannot install CCTV systems due to issues with GDPR.

He's indicated he'll now be requesting a meeting with the Chief Superintendent of the Galway Garda Division to discuss the situation.
