Galway Bay fm newsroom - Mayor of Galway Mike Cubbard says constructive debate is key to solving the ongoing controversy over the "Salthill Sundays" car event.
It comes as organisers of the event have confirmed that this Sunday's event has been cancelled until further notice, pending a meeting with Mayor Councillor Cubbard.
The meeting will take place tomorrow evening at 8PM where it's expected the tighter organisation of future events will be discussed.
Mayor Councillor Cubbard believes it's vital that both sides come together at the table to chart a mutually beneficial way forward.
It comes as the Dáil heard last evening of the need for greater action on the "organised but uncontrolled" event.
Speaking to Keith Finnegan on Galway Talks, Mayor Councillor Cubbard said we shouldn't make decisions based on the actions of a few "clowns".
Emma Rodahan is an organiser of "King of the Ring" car event in Limerick and says all they want is a venue once a month to take part in their hobby.
She pointed out that the Limerick event was arranged in consultation with the local authority and has been a very positive development.
However, she says the problem is that no-one seems to want to engage with them elsewhere in the country - and the actions of a minority are being used to tar the entire group:
