Galway Bay fm newsroom - Gardai are appealing for information after a young man was assaulted in the city centre early today.
The man aged in his early 20s received facial injuries and damage to his teeth during the altercation which took place at around 3am in Eyre Square.
He was taken to UHG where he is being treated for his injuries.
CCTV footage in the area is now being assessed by Gardai.

Meanwhile, no arrests have yet been made following an assault on a woman in the Brackernagh area of Ballinasloe.
The incident took place last Tuesday evening, April 11th, when a woman aged in her early 30s was set upon by a group of men at around 6pm.
The men jumped out of a grey Mercedes van with an English registration.
The woman who was visiting from the UK was taken to Portiuncula Hospital where she was treated for minor injuries.
It's understood the incident may relate to a dispute between feuding families.
