Man found guilty of Glenamaddy murder

Galway Bay fm newsroom - A man has been found guilty by unanimous jury verdict of the murder of a man whose body was found in a woodland near Glenamaddy in 2011.

31 year old Andresj Krauze of Dudley Heights, Glenamaddy had pleaded not guilty at the Central Criminal Court.

Lativian native Andresj Krauze faced trial this week for the killing of 30-year-old Juris Buls at an unknown time on July 7 or 8, 2011 in the Glenamaddy area.

Juris Buls was last seen on July 7th, 2011 when he left for work at Titan Plastics in Glenamaddy.

He was missing for over two weeks when Gardai discovered his body in a wooded area near Creggs, about 10km from the town.

A post mortem examination revealed he had been strangled.

Andresj Krauze fled to Latvia after the murder, but was arrested there in January 2016 after Tuam Gardai travelled to his home country.

Yesterday, the jury asked to see CCTV footage which was shown earlier in the trial.

Having rewatched about one hour of footage they returned to the jury room to continue their deliberations.

This afternoon, Krauze has been found guilty by unanimous jury verdict, and now awaits sentencing.
