Galway Bay fm newsroom - A man is appearing in court today following an alleged attempted robbery at Spanish Arch which left two people in hospital with knife injuries.
A couple was walking at Spanish Arch just before 1am yesterday when they were confronted by a man carrying a knife who demanded money.
The man and woman in their 20s received knife injuries during the altercation and were taken to University Hospital Galway for treatment.
A 29 year old man, who is known to gardaí and has a Galway address, was disarmed of his weapon and subdued by a witness until gardaí arrived on the scene.
He was arrested and taken to Mill Street garda station.
The man has been charged with assault causing harm and attempted robbery, and is appearing before court in the city today.
