Galway Bay fm newsroom - A man has appeared before Loughrea District Court in connection with a major drugs seizure in Gort this week.
It follows a raid at a house in Tarmon in the town yesterday, in which almost 100 thousand euro worth of cannabis plants were discovered.
123 mature plants were discovered during the raid at Tarmon, which was carried out by the Divisional Drug Unit and Gardai from Loughrea on Thursday afternoon at around 2.30.
It's been described as a sophisticated operation with a number of hydrophonic chambers - with each plant valued at between 800 and 900 euro.
A man, aged in his 30s and from Dublin, was arrested at the scene and taken to Loughrea Garda Station.
He appeared before a special sitting of Loughrea District Court last evening where he was remanded in custody to appear again next week.
