The city's newest bridge, Droichead an Dóchais, has been named Ireland's 'Civil Engineering Project of the Year' at the Engineering Excellence Awards
The feature-full pedestrian and cycle bridge opposite Galway Cathedral opened last May serving as the River Corrib's first new bridge in 30 years
It was delivered by the City Council's Active Travel Department whose Senior Engineer Colm Ó Ríordáin has also been honoured with a national award
He was named the 'Active Mobility Leader' at the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport Ireland Mobility and Supply Chain Awards
