Galway Bay fm newsroom – A major mobile emergency coordination unit has been launched in the city.

The new unit is designed to assist the Principle Response Agencies – the city and county councils, Gardai and the HSE –  in the management of major emergencies across Galway.

It aims to improve the agencies’ ability to manage serious incidents through the use of advanced communications equipment and an electronic information management system.

The unit was predominantly funded by the National Directorate for Fire and Emergency Management.

It will be maintained and transported by Galway Fire and Rescue.
