Galway West TD Mairead Farrell has introduced new legislation to provide greater transparency and accountability on public contracts.
Introducing her bill in the Dáil, the Sinn Fein TD highlighted several recent examples that show it's urgently needed.
One was the infamous bike shelter costing over €300 thousand - the other was the National Children's Hospital, the cost of which she claimed has "floated off into the atmosphere".
Deputy Farrell's bill was not opposed by Government - and she's hopeful it'll get the full backing of the Dáil when it goes for debate.
