M6 Motorway reopens near Loughrea

Galway Bay fm newsroom - The eastbound lane of the M6 Motorway at Loughrea has reopened following a number of crashes this morning.

Gardai are warning motorists to exercise extreme caution on all roads this morning - particularly on motorways - following adverse weather conditions overnight and this morning, which led to a series of crashes.

Emergency services attended a considerable number of incidents on the M6, M17 and M18 motorways but all areas have now been cleared.

The M6 near Loughrea, and the M18 between Tuam and Annagh Hill, were closed for a time but both have since reopened.

However, motorists are being advised that traffic remains heavy on the R446 between Craughwell and Oranmore.
