Long tailbacks in east of city as crews work to repair controller

Galway Bay fm newsroom - Motorists are advised to expect significant delays this morning due to long tailbacks on the main routes entering the east of the city.

Heavy congestion is reported in the Briarhill and Parkmore areas since early this morning.

This has led to significant delays for drivers travelling from Oranmore and other eastern commuter areas.

A spokesperson for the city council says there is a technical problem with the contoller at the Parkmore lights since last evening.

Crews are working to resolve the issue.

In the meantime, lights are flashing amber at the Briarhill to Parkmore junction.
