Local TD says state will pay €1bn in social welfare to those with 'long COVID'

Galway Bay fm newsroom - The state will pay nearly 1 billion euro in social welfare to people who have 'long-Covid', according to a local TD.

The Oireachtas Library and Research Service estimates about 115,000 people have had the condition, or will develop it.

That's 10 per cent of all Covid cases so far, and the illness normally lasts at least five months.

Roscommon/Galway Deputy Denis Naughten says more support is needed for these patients.
