Local TD says housing grant limits must be increased due to rising costs

Galway Bay fm newsroom - A local TD says housing grant limits must immediately be increased due to rising construction costs.

It's after €4.5m was allocated to Galway this week for grants for older people and those with disabilities - an increase of around 10 percent on the figure for 2021.

However, Deputy Denis Naughten says the limits per individual application have not changed.

He claims as a result, many people will not be able to cover the funding shortfalls that are arising due to significantly increased construction costs.

Deputy Naughten argues these schemes are incredibly important and limits must be increased.
