Local senator calls for national monuments to celebrate independence heroes

Local senator Sean Kyne is questioning why we have no national monuments celebrating our national heroes who fought for Irish independence.

He says it's extraordinary that we have nothing to celebrate figures like Michael Collins, Eamon de Valera, Cathal Brugha or Countess Markievicz.

Senator Kyne argues every other country has these monuments - and there's no good reason that we do not.
