Galway Bay fm newsroom - Local representatvies are to meet with HSE senior personnel this morning - over the future of Clifden District Hospital.
Families were contacted by the HSE last week, informing them that respite services will not be available from this week.
Yesterday, almost 600 people gathered at Clifden Town Hall to voice their concerns of the situation.
The Clifden District Hospital was established in 1935.
Since then it has served a wide area of Connemara from Leenane in the north to Carna in the south of the district.
A message from the HSE on Friday that the remaining four patients, who are in the older age group, must leave the Hospital by this Monday has sparked fears that the end is in sight for the hospital.
