A local MEP says it's critically important the EU strikes the right balance on new animal transport rules.
Its proposed that new EU regulations on live transport are under consideration.
Addressing the European Parliament's Agriculture and Transport Committees, MEP Barry Cowen welcomed some aspects of the proposals.
But the Midlands North West Fianna Fail MEP said there are also some areas of concern.
