The submissions are currently being assessed in advance of the issuing of a report from the Chief Executive of the local authority.

The development plan covers the period from 2023 to 2029.

It's essentially a framework to ensure the city, with its population of more than 80 thousand people, is developed in a correct and sustainable manner.

The plan covers areas including housing, transportation, economic activity, climate change, community development, recreation facilities, parks, open spaces, arts, culture, heritage, and tourism.

232 public submissions were received.

By comparison, a recent consultation on the controversial cycleway in Salthill drew several thousand responses.

The submissions are currently being assessed, and a Chief Executives report is being prepared that will respond to the issues raised and recommend changes to the plan, if needed.

It'll then be issued to councillors for their consideration at a meeting later this summer, ahead of another public consultation period.
