Galway Bay fm newsroom - Galway Technology Centre has awarded Seamus Keating with its inaugural "Innovator of the West Award".
Following the closure of Digital in 1994, Seamus Keating led a Government Task Force which was the driving force behind the establishment of the GTC.
It comes as the centre is this morning announcing a major expansion which will create up to 12,500 jobs across the West over the next 15 years.
Mr. Keating also previously served as City and County Manager for Galway.
Speaking to Galway Bay fm news, Seamus Keating said he's honoured to accept the award.
He said while the closure of Digital in 1994 was initially a difficult time, Galway had the talent pool and it was a matter of regrouping and thinking positive.
