From Galway Bay FM newsroom- Galway West Government TD Eamon O' Cuiv and Sinn Fein Deputy Mairead Farrell have voiced strong support for President Micheal D.Higgins over remarks he made on the housing crisis.
Cabinet Minsters are said to be 'furious' about a speech he delivered yesterday describing the government's housing policies as our "our great, great failure".
President Higgins also slammed conditions for the Travelling community - and referenced conditions at the halting site along the Curraghline on the Headford Road.
He said the scandalous situation there is as bad today as it was 50 years ago.
Speaking to Galway Talks, Fianna Fail Deputy Eamon O'Cuiv agreed and said everyone has the right to decent housing.
Galway West Sinn Fein TD Mairead Farrell said the Government's reaction is cowardly and ignorant.
