Lights at Briarhill to be off on Saturday for installation of traffic controller

Galway Bay fm newsroom - City motorists are advised to expect some delays on Saturday as traffic lights are set to be turned off at Briarhill junction.

The action is being taken by Galway City Council to facilitate the installation of a new controller.

This will link in with the urban traffic control room.

It's hoped the changes will assist in alleviating the ongoing traffic chaos in the Parkmore area.

It comes as latest figures show 14 thousand people per day travel on the Parkmore Road at peak afternoon rush hours.

Uinseann Finn is Senior Engineer with Galway Transportation Unit - he says the changes at Briarhill should improve the level of tailbacks.
