Galway Bay fm newsroom - Tusla has taken legal action against parents in the west 33 times in less than two years because their children didn't attend school enough.
21 summonses were issued to parents in the region in 2018 and a further 12 were issued up to August this year.
Nationwide, the agency has issued court summonses relating to 212 children between January 2018 and August of this year.
Nearly 800 warning letters were also sent to parents, mainly because their children missed more than 20 days of school.
