Latest report shows average rent across County Galway is just over €1,100

Galway Bay fm newsroom - The average rent across Galway is now just over €1,100 per month.

That's an increase of 5 per cent compared to this time last year.

The figures are from the latest report issued by the Residential Tenancies Board, based on the fourth quarter of last year.

The average rent in Galway is now €1,106 per month; the figure for Galway City is slightly higher at €1,166.

That compares to a national average of just over €1,250.

However, outside the Greater Dublin Area - which is Dublin, Meath, Kildare and Wicklow - the average rent nationwide is just over €900 per month.

The highest average rent in the country is in Dublin at over €1,745 euro per month, while the cheapest is in Co Donegal at €625.

The figures are based on standardised average rents, which take account of the changing mix of properties in an area.

The report also reveals that more than half of all tenancies registered nationwide at the end of last year were apartments or flats.
