Galway Bay fm newsroom - Today is the last day for donations to be made in aid of Ukraine at the central hub at Galway Racecourse.
Over the past two weeks, efforts have seen a number of loaded trucks travel from Galway to Poland to assist humanitarian efforts.
The initiative began two weeks ago in the carpark of Smakoteka Polish shop near Merlin Park.
However, the outpouring of public support proved overwhelming, which prompted Galway Racecourse to offer expanded facilities at Ballybrit.
Donations are being accepted at Galway Racecourse today until 3pm.
Owner of Smakoteka, Kashia Zaranek, has been speaking to Sally-Ann Barrett, and has thanked the public, her staff, volunteers, and Galway Racecourse for their trojan efforts,
She said one of the trucks that left yesterday - provided by O' Toole Transport - is now directly on its way to Ukraine.
