Galway Bay fm newsroom - The largest passenger cruise ship to ever dock at the Port of Galway arrived this morning at 5:30am.
The ship, called the Ambience, is currently anchored west of the Mutton Island Causeway.
The cruise ship, weighing over 73 thousand Gross Tons, has a passenger capacity of 2,052 and a crew of 700.
On Twitter, the Port of Galway said it has taken "years of effort" to make this happen, adding that it shows that Galway has "undeniable attraction".
Tours of the Cliffs of Moher and Kylemore Abbey are arranged, while the remaining passengers will spend the day in the city.
The ambience is due to sail from Galway at 6pm bound for Killybegs.
