Over 120 people attended last night's meeting where community members said they are supportive of getting people out of B&Bs and hotel rooms.

While no one at the meeting was against the project, a number of concerns were raised over the access to the site and the need for a perimeter wall.

The site, located behind the Westside library will be used to accommodate 15 prefabricated units of two and three bedrooms.

The units are expected to come into operation in September and are designed to have a life-span of five years.

Officials are hoping to wind them down in three years time as longer term housing solutions become available.

Director of Housing Dermot Mahon told the meeting that the perimeter wall at the back of Camillaun Park could be done and they will consider the call for a new access road to the development. For more on this story tune in to Galway Bay fm news on the hour...
