Kilmeen Cross still in the dark despite installation of infrastructure decades ago

Galway Bay fm newsroom - Kilmeen Cross near Loughrea is still in the dark despite the installation of lighting infrastructure decades ago.

It's been revealed that pods and wiring for street lights at the East Galway junction was installed about 30 years ago.

However, a local campaign to light up the location has been unsuccessful.

TII says accident data does not qualify Kilmeen Cross for funding.

Loughrea area councillor Michael Moegie Maher says the fact that the basic infrastructure is already there would make the installation of lighting much easier.
