John Waters to stand as candidate in European elections in this constituency

Former Irish Times columnist John Waters is to contest the European Parliament elections as an independent candidate in this constituency of Midlands-North-West

In recent years, Mr Waters was a prominent campaigner against the Government’s Covid restrictions.

He was an unsuccessful independent candidate in the 2020 Irish general election for Dún Laoghaire constituency

In 2022, a challenge by 69 year-old Mr Waters and Gemma O’Doherty to the constitutionality of Covid-19 legislation was dismissed by the Supreme Court.

In a statement, Roscommon native Mr Waters said his core values are life, family and community.
