Galway Bay fm newsroom - The Jobs Minister will officially open a new endoscopy facility at Boston Scientific in the city today (Thurs).
The well-known Galway employer is located at Ballybrit Business Park where it has a team of approximately 3,000 staff.
The new Roadrunner facility aims to reduce the time it takes to develop a medical device to six months.
It's set to welcome over 300 endoscopy experts each year in a bid to develop innovative devices, with a particular focus on metal stents.
Minister Mary Mitchell O'Connor will open the new facility at lunchtime today which will be attended by more than 40 national and international endoscopy research experts.
Boston Scientific has committed to investing 17 million euro in the endoscopy facility and its research by 2020
