Galway Bay fm newsroom - Irish Water says it is working to restore water supply to hundreds of homes in Kilkerrin-Moylough following issues with raw water quality.
It says areas supplied by Slieveroe Water Tower may suffer loss of supply due to a deterioration in quality.
Irish Water is advising that up to 1,500 people in the area are facing the loss of their water supply, due to a deterioration in raw water quality following exceptionally heavy rain.
It's asking those who still have a supply to conserve water where possible and not use dishwashers or washing machines.
Crews are currently on-site addressing the problem and Irish Water says every effort is being made to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.
However, it's warning that it's unlikely water supply will be restored before 6'o clock tomorrow evening.
