Galway Bay fm newsroom - Irish Water is to write to homes and businesses on the public water network in Ballinasloe where the drinking water quality is deemed to be below best standards.
However, customers on the scheme are advised that the water is still safe to drink.
The correspondence will outline what the utility is doing in the Ballinasloe regional water supply scheme to improve the supply.
This includes the installation of additional treatment at the Ballinasloe town water treatment plant.
The utility is writing to 140 thousand homes and businesses in 16 counties nationwide, where water supply is considered 'not as good as it could be'.
