Galway Bay fm newsroom - Irish Water has begun taking over the administration of more than 2 and a half thousand business customer accounts in Galway city.
The change will see responsibility for account administration move to the utility from the city council.
Charges for business customers, credit terms and the frequency of billing will remain unchanged during the transition from the city council to Irish Water.
Irish Water says it will now provide a single point of customer contact for all queries in relation to water supply, wasterwater treatment and business account management.
Irish Water began the process of billing transfer on a phased basis in July last year.
To date, administration for water services in 27 local authorities including Mayo and Donegal have been transferred to the utility.
