Galway Bay fm newsroom - Irish Water has begun the next phase of mains replacement works in the Spiddal area.
The utility, working in partnership with Galway County Council, is replacing approximately two kilometres of old and damaged watermains in the area that were prone to frequent bursts and leakage.
The work will be focused off the main R336 and along four by-roads around Cumann Mícheál Breathnach / Coláiste Lurgan.
Already this year Irish Water has carried out works on nine similar roads in this area in an earlier phase of the scheme.
The mains are being replaced with new high density plastic pipes.
The works are now underway and will be completed in December.
