Irish Rail in final stages of contract discussions for redevelopment of Ceannt Station

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Irish Rail has confirmed it’s in the final stages of contract discussions for the redevelopment of Ceannt Station.

The tender process was opened at the end of last year, and it’s expected a contract will be awarded shortly.

The plan, funded by the Department of Transport and URDF, aims to transform the station area as an integrated public transport hub.

The work will include a new entrance, facade, and facilities – along with enhanced connectivity and interchange between rail and bus services

It will also see the addition a new roof on the existing train hall to transform the platform and circulation areas into bright spaces.
