Galway Bay fm newsroom - Irish Rail is to consider running a shuttle bus from Oranmore village to the train station.
Officials from the company attended a meeting of Athenry-Oranmore Municipal District to discuss the operation of the relatively new station in Oranmore.
A shuttle service operates between Hazelhatch Road and Celbridge station in Dublin and it's hoped a similar system could be provided in Oranmore.
Councillor James Charity says the location of the train station in Oranmore poses difficulty in terms of people accessing it from the village.
