Galway Bay fm newsroom - There is an increase in single adults becoming homeless in Galway according to COPE Galway.
This week the Department of Housing published figures showing that there were 350 homeless adults in the west in July.
This represents an increase of 13 per cent since June.
COPE Galway says the data from the department does not include people who are sleeping rough, squatting or living in overcrowded situations.
The charity responded to a total of 91 people who presented seeking help because they had nowhere to spend the night between mid-July to mid-August.
Martin O' Connor from COPE Galway says more social housing is what's need to tackle homelessness - for more on this story tune in to Galway Bay fm news on the hour...
