Galway Bay fm newsroom - Attendance figures at the Galway solemn novena were significantly up for 2017, with organisers describing it as one of the most successful in years.
The nine day event at Galway Cathedral concluded last night (Tues) with mass celebrated at 9pm.
Six thousand medals were handed out to young families who attended the various masses last Sunday, where children were blessed after each session.
A change in the age demographic was also noted by organisers who say that despite all the odds, people travelled in their droves.

A considerable increase was also noted in attendance at the two late night Novena meditation sessions - a doubling in attendance in the last four years.
