Human rights vigil to take place in Eyre Square this evening

A vigil will take place in Eyre Square this evening in solidarity with the people of Kashmir.

Previously, the Kashmiri people were granted autonomous status by the Indian Government but it was revoked on August 5th.

Since then, reports of human rights violations have emerged from the region.

A wall of commemoration will be erected at this evening's vigil where messages of support can be posted.

Organiser Joe Loughnane says this evening's vigil is chance for Kashmiri people in Galway to ask the Irish Government for their support.
