Galway Bay fm newsroom - The HSE is being urged to accelerate efforts to reopen a number of respite beds which remain unavailable at St. Brendan's Community Nursing Home in Loughrea.
The facility has not been operating at full capacity since earlier this year due to an issue with the water supply.
Councillor Michael 'Moegie' Maher says that many families have not been able to receive respite care for loved ones over the past 6 months due to the ongoing issues.
In a statement to Galway Bay fm news, the HSE says 8 beds remain closed in order to meet HIQA regulations due to bacteria found in the water system.
It adds that ongoing measures are being taken to resolve the issue.
