Galway Bay fm newsroom - The Irish Midwives and Nurses Organisation is calling on the HSE to urgently lift the recruitment ban as the overcrowding crisis continues at UHG.
1,317 funded nursing and midwifery posts are left vacant in Ireland's acute hospitals due to the ban, according to the INMO.
Most graduating nurses and midwives haven't received offers or contracts and are being turned away from understaffed hospitals.
It comes as UHG is the fourth most overcrowded hospital today with 30 waiting for admission.
